This is a north Indian dish and a health packed recipe. Both palak and kheema are good for health. Yesterday I found spinach sitting in my fridge for a long time and thought of finishing it. On weekends for sure I will cook nonveg, so I thought of preparing palak kheema this weekend.
Ingredients:
Spinach-2 big bunches
Mutton kheema-1/2 kg
Spring onions-1fist (finely chopped)
Onion (small)-1(finely chopped)
Chilli powder-1 1/2tsp+1tbsp
Garam masala-1 1/4 tsp
Daniya powder-3/4 tbsp
Ginger garlic paste-2tsp
Coriander leaves-1 fist (finely chopped)
Turmeric-1/4 tsp
Salt-to taste
Oil-2tbsp
Water-1cup
Dry coconut powder-2tsp
Lemon-1/2 piece.
Green chillies-4(slit length wise)
Pre-process:
Take a pressure cooker and add in kheema, 1tbsp chillipowder, water and cook for 3 whistles.
Clean spinach bunches by separating leaves and stem. Chop palak finely.
Procedure:
- Heat oil in a cast iron wok and add onions and fry for 2 minutes till onions are golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste, turmeric and fry till raw smell of ginger garlic paste goes away.
- Add daniya powder, garammasala, green chillies, and green onions and mix nicely and fry for 1 minute.
- Add in palak, salt and mix well a n cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Add kheema and fry for 2 minutes.
- Add 1 1/2tsp chill powder and mix and fry till curry becomes dry,i.e cook till all the water released from palak goes away.
- Add dry coconut powder and mix.
- Sprinkle lemon juice and mix. Switch off stove immediately after adding lemon juice.
Serving ideas:
Goes well with rice and roti.
Note:
- If you don’t have a cast iron wok you can use nonstick pan.
- You can decrease or increase lemon juice according to your taste.
